My Logo

So my blog is kind of an about me, but its also about how I got to the career choices I’m at today.  Photography is the path I decided to follow for the purpose of this class, so with that I decided I should try and create a watermark for my logo.  Most freelance photographers just use their whole name, and some use initials.  I decided to use my first and last initials because it flowed a little better and had a sort of rhyming effect with the word photography at the end.  I wanted my logo to just be the words but for the purpose of this assignment I thought it should have a little more to it.  I added the clip art camera because it was simple and didn’t take away from the name too much.  The font I chose isn’t as simple but I feel that it gives the logo more of an artistic look, which is what I want since photography is art! I’m not the best at illustrator so this didn’t quite turn out the way I envisioned it, but I like the simplicity.

Illustrator tutorials

wow! I just about threw my laptop against the wall with the bunny tutorial! It wouldn’t let me do anything! and the instructions were very vague.  I do not enjoy illustrator.

Final Collage

My topic is all about sharing moments in my life while growing up that have made me into who I am today.  I believe my collage nails this on the head.  I chose to use film strips because I was thinking of this collage as kind of clips from a movie of my life.  I showed my family and best friends.  I have a picture of me doing my favorite event in a sport that was my entire life for 14 years.  I chose to make the picture of my boyfriend and me the biggest and most central because it is the final and most current piece of who I am today.  As far as changes I made after suggestions, I only made a few slight tweaks because other ones didn’t work out.  It was suggested that I change the text in the background.  I thought about taking it out all together because you can’t see much of it, but I like the word suggestions given to me and I used those and some others.  I tried to move pictures around to make it a little bit more of a time line but the way the film strips sat it looked weird to move them too much.  Instead I turned the pictures black and white and only made me in color to try and get the eye to follow me more.  Last, I added a picture of my scoliosis because that is another major part of my life.

I started with a baby picture to show me as a clean slate.  It shows that I was innocent and ready to become anything the elements in the other pictures molded me into.  The next picture I chose was a family picture.  I don’t have any particular reason for choosing possibly the oldest most hideous one, besides the fact that it just makes me laugh and laughter describes my family.  We are constantly joking around and laughing hysterically at each other for no particular reason.  My brother is the quick whitted comedian of the family and keeps everyone entertained.

The third picture is one of me during a gymnastics meet.  After 14 years of competitive gymnastics I have plenty to choose from but beam is my favorite event, so my mount that I did for seven years made the cut.  I started gymnastics and age 4 and made it to level eight in club my freshman year of high school. I was at the gym around twenty hours a week and decided I wanted a life outside of the gym.  I quit club and continued with high school gymnastics.

The picture of me and three other girls in the pool goes along with the gymnastics story.  The twins are my cousins.  Our moms are twins so we grew up really close.  They did gymnastics with me at the same gym for almost the same amount of time.  The other girl in the picture grew up in the gym with us as well.  She became our best friend since we didn’t really have time to bond outside of gymnastics.  Her family moved to Arizona for a few years and now she goes to college in Alaska, but we still keep in touch and get together over the summers like we were never even separated.

The largest picture is of me and my boyfriend.  We have been together for three years and started out as friends in high school.  He is a total goof and makes me laugh, fits right in with my family!

The last picture is an x-ray of my spine. I found out I had scoliosis in the seventh grade and had to wear a big bulky back brace for over a year.  It was terrible and I hated it and I will have back problems for the rest of my life, but it played a major role in my decisions and attitude towards life and is another factor that shaped me.

Rough Draft Project 1

Alright, heres my rough draft! I’m thinking about adding one more photo in the bottom right hand corner, BUT I will explain what I have going on right now first.  I wanted to sum up the biggest parts of my life in this one collage. Sounds difficult, and it was!, but when I thought about what means the most to me and what has really made me who I am today, these are the pictures I came up with.  I started with a baby picture because, lets face it, we all start out as babies right?  Clean slates to be molded into God only knows what by the people and things in our lives.

The next picture I chose was a family picture.  I don’t have any particular reason for choosing possibly the oldest most hideous one, besides the fact that it just makes me laugh and laughter describes my family.  We are constantly joking around and laughing histarically at each other for no particular reason.  My brother is the quick whitted comedian of the family and keeps everyone entertained.

3 collage photos

I would like to use more than 3 photos but here’s a few I want to work in.
