FINAL VIDEO!

For my video I wanted to go in a different direction than the audio assignment. I wanted to make the video about me and my twin cousins because we basically grew up as triplets.

To start I want to show my mom and her twin sister (aunt Kim) and Kim’s twin daughters (Alisha and Chanelle) all in the same shot while introducing them.  My mom and aunt are fraternal twins, while my cousins are identical, so it’s interesting to see them all together.

next I want to have Alisha tell a story she remembers well from when we were growing up and Chanelle tell a story as well.

We did gymnastics for so long together that I wanted to add in a clip of us tumbling together.  Alisha tore her ACL and can’t participate in that shot so it will just be two of us.

Alisha’s story is about a turtle we dropped down a laundry shoot when we were 3 years old to see if it could fly, spoiler alert, it didn’t… So I want to reenact that scene with a stuffed animal turtle to add a little humor to the sad story.

I’m not exactly sure how I want to end it, but I’m thinking about doing a little photo montage with music showing us growing up?

for the final cut I ended up putting in shots of just my self narrating what was coming next.  For the ending I decided to match our tumbling scene up with dramatic music and fading that out into picture of us all grown up today.  One of the pictures includes our best friend as well (who we also grew up doing gymnastics with)

Over all I just added narrative clips and made some shorter (and I pulled the volume down Calvin! 🙂 for the final video.  I ended up not reenacting the turtle scene because they don’t have the same house and I just couldn’t find another setting that looked quite right.

rough drafts of video

well in the meantime… here’s the story in the correct format

Final Cut Audio Project

For this project, I interviewed my grandma and grandpa, my parents, my older sister Shamara (her newborn daughter Abagail also puts a word in), my older brother Kyle, my younger sister Brenna and my boyfriend.  (Oh my dog “speaks” on command so I had to put his input in there too!) I figured they are the ones that have known me longest and have to most detailed interesting stories about me.  I asked each of them to describe me in three words and to tell a story they remember best about me, or a memory they have with me.  As for the three describing words, I decided to mix and mash them all together to get a different, hopefully more intriguing, effect.  I put two of the same word from different people back to back to kind of show that that particular word was a popular one that best describes me.  The story about me throwing temper tantrums for no apparent reason was a popular story and told by almost every one, but I decided to only put it in once.  My mom had a TON of stories and was way too eager to tell them ALL! I had to cut her off 😉 To conclude it I added in one of my favorite songs at the end and faded it in and out.

rough draft

Alright, here is my rough draft. I am having trouble getting it to 4 minutes but it’s getting there.  I thought this assignment was actually kind of fun hearing what people have to say about me, but it has been very time consuming! Who knew cutting and pasting and re cutting and re pasting could be so complicated!? Anyways, I interviewed my parents, grandparents, older brother and sister, and my boyfriend.  I asked them to describe me in three words and to tell funny stories or memories they have with/about me.

Final Logo

So here is my final draft.  I found a new camera image that looks a little more sleek and not so cheesy.  And I thought it kind of gave a “flash” effect that was mentioned in one of my critiques without having to make a literal flash since I thought that might look cheesy.  And since it was silver I tried to apply that look to the rest of the logo. I made the “photography” silver with a gradient and lightened up the K.D shadow to make it all match a little more.  One of the critiques was to take out the periods in between the letters which I did but I just felt it looked incomplete without them.  Maybe thats the part of me that grew up with an english teacher for a mom speaking, but I added them back in. I still don’t think its exactly up to par of what I had pictured in my head but it is for sure an improvement on my first logo.

So my blog is kind of an about me, but its also about how I got to the career choices I’m at today.  Photography is the path I decided to follow for the purpose of this class, so with that I decided I should try and create a watermark for my logo.  Most freelance photographers just use their whole name, and some use initials.  I decided to use my first and last initials because it flowed a little better and had a sort of rhyming effect with the word photography at the end.  I wanted my logo to just be the words but for the purpose of this assignment I thought it should have a little more to it.  I added the clip art camera because it was simple and didn’t take away from the name too much.  The font I chose isn’t as simple but I feel that it gives the logo more of an artistic look, which is what I want since photography is art! I’m not the best at illustrator so this didn’t quite turn out the way I envisioned it, but I like the simplicity.

Illustrator tutorials

wow! I just about threw my laptop against the wall with the bunny tutorial! It wouldn’t let me do anything! and the instructions were very vague.  I do not enjoy illustrator.
